Okay, so this scene is similar to the published prologue; however, when I first wrote the prologue, Cole was still in the picture. He never disappeared. It’s just fun to see them together before everything happens.
And I hope you enjoy this little deleted scene. I have more.
Pushing through the crowd I made my way to the bar. If anyone knew where this girl would be it’d be Cole. He would have a copy of all the VIPs and Karina Vasiliev had to have been one of them. A pair of men and women slapped against me on each side like I was a damn piece of meat and they were the bread. I slid out from between then and stumbled against a bar stool. My hands pressed firmly against the table as my eyes traveled up to a playful smirk and matching grey eyes.
“Wow, must be my lucky day.” Cole chuckled from behind the bar.
I couldn’t hear him over the music, but I followed along with what Cole was saying by the movement of his lips. It was a skill I acquired when I worked there.
“Funny, I was thinking the opposite. Where’s the VIP list?”
“I’m sorry, that information is classified. Employee eyes only.”
“I just need a name.” I paused a moment. “And possibly a drink.”
Cole chuckled. “Who are you looking for this time?”
“Vasiliev, Karina. My boss assigned me to her for the night.”
“So you’re a babysitter?
My smile dropped from my lips and a scowl formed in its place. “Haha, funny.”
“If you wanted a babysitting gig, I could have hired you to watch Sebastien.”
I smirked. “I rather watch your daughter.”
“What’s wrong with Sebastien?”
I scoffed. “Everything.”
Cole turned from me, grabbing a bottle of wine from behind and placed it in front of me. “Lounge four. The girl’s dancing on the table, surrounded by men.”
My eyes followed to where Cole pointed, not that I could see past the people on the dance floor. “Do you have X-ray vision or some shit?”
“Nope, I was just over there.” He reached below the bar and grabbed a glass up and a bottle of whiskey.
“How many bottles has she had?”
“This will be her third bottle.” He poured a glass of whiskey and set it in front of me.
“And you left her on the table drunk off her ass?”
“That’s your job to take care of her, not mine.” Cole smirked.
Dick.
“Why’d you get assigned to her?”
“Because I’m good at what I do. Making them swoon while keeping them at a distance.”
“Someone’s gonna make you fall flat on your ass and eat those words one day and I pray I’ll be there to see it.”
“Yeah, that’s what you said about Daniel and he’s still hiding out, away from girls.”
“He’s been doing pretty well with Gina’s sister.”
“To not get killed by her.”
“I don’t think he knows.”
“My point is, it’s not gonna happen to me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I got a spoiled riches kid to drag home.”
I snatched the cup of whiskey, from the counter. I took three big gulps and placed the empty glass back down. “Now I’m going.”
“Have a blast.”
If you enjoyed Reckless Sin, be sure to grab Irresistible Desire (Cole!) which is AVAILABLE NOW in Kindle Unlimited. As an author’s note … Cole’s book is my favorite so far. I loved his cameo in Reckless Sin, but getting into his head was the most fun ever. He’s broody, a bit sad, but defintiely sexy ;).
